EDUCATIONAL PROJECT
Bridging retreat transformation with everyday life
→ 06 Prototypes: Created and Tested
→ Retreat Followup Platform Concept
→ Card & Platform Integration for Daily Check-ins
This was a team project with Tia Tyrrell and Greeshma Hosalli Prabhakara. This project was created for a Prototyping course and is a concept work rather than a client project.
Retreat transformation fades after participants arrive home.
Attendees often have a powerful and inspiring experience at their wellness retreat. They gain clarity and a strong awareness of what they want to change in their lives. However, once they return home, they struggle to apply what they’ve learned to their daily routines and often lose momentum on their goals.
Through our six in-depth prototyping workshops with coaches and retreat attendees we found out that a bridge was needed between daily life interactions, like pouring a cup of coffee, and retreat information which is usually tucked inside a notebook or on their personal devices.
Want to dive into the prototypes we used and the final concept? Explore the sections below.
Our six project prototypes:
Machine Learning
We ran data collections on productivity, goal reaching and post-retreat feelings through ML software (Orange3) to identify behavioral trends.
Desktop Systems Mapping
We mapped the retreat-to-home transition using a Canva whiteboard and color-coded shapes to determine daily touchpoints for attendees.
Interactive Desktop Walkthrough
We tested an “Anchor Card” concept as a hybrid physical-digital habit support system by walking through the QR-scanning process.
Conversational Prototyping
To identify the key human-support elements for our solution we conducting conversations with attendees and coaches over Zoom and pulled out key features.
Multi-touchpoint Planning
We created key service maps (customer journey, experience flow, personas, and artifacts) and layered them together to determine touchpoint transitions.
High-Fidelity Mockups & Pilot Testing
We conducted final user testing of the integrated platforms and service using clickable mockups created in Adobe XD.
Here are the gaps & solutions we found:
We created tools, like QR code anchor cards, that attendees would begin using at the retreat and then continue to use at their homes so that the environments had cross-over familiarity.
01
Gap One: The retreat vs. home environment were too different for seamless knowledge transfer.
Our solution pulls in extended accountability and community access with the choice to use peer support, AI -powered curriculum searching or one-on-one coaching on the attendee’s platform.
Gap Two: In-person connection was more effective than virtual connection.
02
We created Anchor Cards which could be placed around the home as visual reminders of the intended goals. Each card has a QR code that attaches to the digital tracking platform to easily check off the task.
03
Gap Three: Client’s retreat goals were hidden in their journals or computers.
The Retreat Forward platform allows attendees to break down their goal list into micro steps that coordinate with their Anchor cards so they fit their goals into daily routines.
Gap Four: Daily life requirements pull attendees back into regular life.
04
People don’t struggle after retreats because they lack motivation, but because daily life pulls them back into old routines. Lasting change requires support that fits into real environments, everyday habits, and human relationships.
“Your team seems to have something very original and innovative for online coaches. I’d like to recommend this for the European Product Design Award (ePDA).”
