Accessibility Statement

Last Updated on: May 19, 2022

Illustrative is dedicated to supporting all divergences by creating an accessible site. We believe accessibility is one of the MOST effective and urgent ways to bring diverse ideas to the table that make the world a better place for everyone.

We are dedicated to accessibility for physical and learning disabilities because we believe that everyone deserves to understand and be understood.

We also know that improving accessibility helps everyone. Nursing mothers benefit from captions, tired students benefit from reminders and those days when we are low on sleep we could all use some simple skip to content features.

OUR GOALS

Our goal is to meet all Web Content Accessibility Guidelines by the August 1st of 2022.

We are working through the A list on the A11y project found at https://www.a11yproject.com/checklist/ and plan to also meet the AA list by the end of 2022.

OUR CURRENT ACTIONS

*Items with a star are currently in progress.

3.1.5 READING LEVEL We write our content at an 8th grade reading level. If words are industry specific we add them to our frequently updated Glossary page.

*1.3.1 INFO AND RELATIONSHIPS We create descriptive buttons to indicate where someone will go when they click.

1.1.1 NON-TEXT CONTENT We provide alt text for all non-decorative images and all decorative images use empty alt text boxes. All concept art links to a full text document to describe the image. All text inside of images is included in the alt text.

*2.4.6 HEADINGS OR LABELS We are working to organize our headers in a logical hierarchy for readers.

1.4.2 AUDIO CONTROL All of our videos do not auto play. They allow you to choose when to start and pause them.

1.2.2 CAPTIONS We provide captions on all of our video content

2.3.1 THREE FLASHES OR BELOW THRESHOLD We create GIFS and videos that move at a slower pace and do not strobe faster than 3 times in 1 second.

1.3.3 SENSORY CHARACTERISTICS We check the spacing on all pages and printable products to make sure that everything is readable and responsive. We also provide learning material in multiple formats so that different learners can learn in their coziest way.

1.4.1 USE OF COLOR We do not use color as the only form of sharing information, text is included alongside it as needed.

OTHER ACTIONS

  • We provide transcripts upon request and visual notes for lessons and virtual sessions.

  • Scholarships and payment plans are available for those in social class structures who have less access to education and support so that they can get what they need in business development and idea sharing.

  • We strive to use inclusive language so that everyone feels welcome on the site regardless of race, gender identity, sex, mental or physical disability and other marginalized identities and experiences.

  • We hire based on skill and provide flexible hours to accommodate our contractors needs. When people can work in a way that works for them, they produce their best work. When people have a chance to rest and keep a flexible schedule their work reflects their best and comes from a place of abundance, so we support flexibility, leave room for mistakes and provide room for delays.

  • We provide walkthroughs and visual support for visual thinking clients and team members.

  • We allow people to show up as they are on calls, emails and other places Illustrative LLC is represented.

  • We are fully aware of how hustle culture has affected the business world and are working to balance creating work we are proud of and leaving room for humans to be humans.
