Illustrative Community Agreements
for those in the OIC membership and attending group dig sessions
Community & Group Agreements:
The Illustrative community is filled with people from diverse lived and learned experiences. In order to maintain a safer space and maintain healthy energy levels for creators and admins within groups, we ask you to agree to the following community agreements before attending.
We keep a secure and financially fair environment. Keep your login information to yourself and point non-members to the signup page to join with their own profile.
We use content and aids for support, not resale. Use content to support clients but don’t repackage or repurpose content from the membership or workshops and sell or teach it as if it’s your own.
We are kind and work to reduce harm. Keep posts & comments positive, appropriate, accurate, and kind. If harm is unintentionally inflicted on another member you will take the steps to repair the harm. We all make mistakes, it’s all about doing better with the new information we gain as we grow. We adopt a "yes, and..." attitude, understanding that there is usually more than one answer to a problem.
We value autonomy here. Give advice only when asked. Let group members reach out for support when needed. If you have a skill that can support them ask first before sharing about your business.
We understand that discomfort is a part of learning and growth. We are all sharing this learning space and are on different journeys. Rather than reacting quickly, please pause to put responses together thoughtfully. Discomfort is different from harm and is a part of growth. In Illustrative Communities, discomfort is defined as a feeling you have when encountering something that you are unfamiliar with. Harm is inflicting pain, excluding someone from necessary activities, and injuring someone's reputation based on biases and factors that are out of their control and leave a lasting impact.
We mark educational yet triggering questions. This is a space for learning. We welcome questions in order for you to learn from them. If you have a question about visual aids that may trigger pain and trauma for other members please include a trigger warning. (Ex: this is a question that involves ____ so please take care if this is a trigger for you). Message Laura privately if you have a question about whether something can be shared.
We link out to rapid flashing visuals. When posting visuals with flashing images that flash faster than three images per second please link out to them with a "flashing light trigger warning" instead of posting directly as a courtesy for those with migraines & seizures.
We are intentional with our language. We do not use slurs or phrases that are stereotypical and mean towards people groups. We are all humans here with lots of emotions so cursing is allowed here. Please use care when interacting in the community around children. We are aware that terms are always changing, if someone kindly (that includes directly) corrects your word usage, simply thank them and decide how to move forward.
We are here to support you but you are responsible for your own actions (liability):
You agree that Illustrative can’t promise any specific results from lessons and workshops.
You are in charge of how you use the information and the choices you make. We are here to cheer you on and offer feedback and you take the actions necessary.
Any negative or positive results that might occur from the information you learned here are the result of your own personal choices and actions.
Our Privacy Policy:
Illustrative will not share any contact or personal information about you with other members, non-members, or any third parties.
We ask you not to share personal information shared in the community/group.
